Easy Carter-Style and Bluegrass Solos in G – 2 Arrangements

In this week’s featured lesson we’ll be taking a look at an original composition I’ve entitled ‘Easy Carter-Style and Bluegrass Solos in G.’ We’re going to learn a basic melody in a Carter-style solo and then transition it into more of a Flatpicking solo. Most people get into Carter-style playing when they first get introduced to this genre and hopefully they start learning how to flatpick after they’ve mastered the Carter-style. So, once you’ve learned the first arrangement (Carter-style) then we’ll take a look at how I would create a Bluegrass Flatpicking solo out of that melody. It’ll involve consecutive eighth-note runs, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and some cross-picking. This will be a great lesson for those of you who want to see/learn how to take your basic carter style playing and move it into Bluegrass Flatpicking! Have a listen below!
